Perfect French Toast That Will Satisfy Your Craving


The wonderful recipe of french toast has long existed looking back to a cookbook published in the 4th or 5th century. It turns out that what we call the French toast is even older than France!

There are several secrets you have to keep in mind to make the best french toast. Thicker slices of bread work better than thinner for absorbing batter, and pre-toasting the bread in the oven before dipping it in the batter prevents sogginess.

French Toast Recipe (Thirty minutes to prepare. Serves four people)

Ingredients:

  • Eight thick slices of bread (a hearty white bread should work, about 1/2″ slices)
  • One 1/2 cups whole milk, warmed
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted plus extra for skillet
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation:

Start by placing bread on a wire rack or baking sheet. Bake bread about 8 minutes. flip, then bake another 8 minutes. Remove from rack and let cook 5 minutes.

1. Whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, butter, and vanilla in a large bowl until well blended.

2. Transfer the mixture to a large baking pan.

3. Soak the bread in the mixture about 20 seconds per side, then transfer to a separate baking sheet.

4. Lower oven temperature to 200F to keep cooked french toast warm.

5. Add butter to a skillet, and cook over low heat. Transfer slices of bread to the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes, then flip and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes.

6. Transfer toast to a baking sheet, and place in the oven.

7. Repeat until all toast is cooked. Serve warm with butter, powdered sugar, and/or maple syrup.

8. Serve and enjoy!

You can also add fruits of your choice on top if you like.
