When the young woman Emma Fairbairn from England learns that she is expecting, everything seems to be perfect. The pregnancy goes smoothly, her little boy develops as he should, and Emma is overjoyed with the prospect of holding him in her arms for the first time. She can hardly wait for the day of birth, and her life couldn’t have been better at this point. But then a day comes when everything changes. She is six months pregnant when she gets involved in a severe car accident.
Emma can only think about her baby. Will he survive the accident unscathed? Paramedics arrive and rush her to a hospital. On the way she can feel her son moving and kicking. Everything seems to be all right with him; the doctors only want to keep her over night to monitor her health.
In the morning a midwife visits her to check on her baby. But in the middle of her examinations, her face suddenly turns grave. The shocked mother learns that her sons has died in the night – and there’s something even worse: She will have to give birth to her dead child. Emma is horrified.
So I know the news has travelled now and I'm grateful for all the messages but I just don't have the energy to reply…
On the 28th of May, 2017, her son Flynn is born – but he will never open his eyes to see the sun. At only 623 grams, he is unbelievably tiny. It is the only opportunity for Emma to hold him in her arms – to say goodbye. She takes to Facebook to describe her feelings.
“These past 27 hours have been the worst of my life. Just knowing he’s gone and I’m never going to see him open his eyes or cry or watch him take his first steps, nothing. His poor little body couldn’t take the pain or stress from the horrific crash yesterday and there was nothing I could do to save him when my body was meant to keep him safe and up until late last night I thought it had. Rest in peace, my beautiful baby boy.”
Aw little man😢 I'm so so sorry that you got hurt in that nasty crash😢💔💙
